• Account: when you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier and, depending on your choices, your name and email address (Apple may give us a private relay address).
• Learning preferences: your assistance language, English level, goal and interests, which you choose during onboarding and can change in the app.
• Practice activity: the sessions and phrases you complete, replays, playback speed, the translations and expressions you look up, your streak and your saved videos. This lets us build your Daily Session and keep your progress.
• Imported videos: the links you submit and the lessons we create from them. Imported lessons stay private to you.
• Subscription status: whether you have an active trial or subscription. Payments are handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card details.
• Device and technical data: app version, device type, operating system, language, time zone (to define your learning day), push notification token, and crash or error reports.

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests (improving and securing Shadoo), your consent (for example, for push notifications) and our legal obligations.

When you ask for a sentence translation, Shadoo uses the translation features built into your phone (Apple Translation on iOS, on-device translation on Android) where they are available.

We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run Shadoo, under contracts that protect your data: hosting and database providers, content-processing and AI providers (for video transcripts, never your voice), subscription management (RevenueCat), Apple and Google (sign-in, payments and push notifications), and privacy-friendly analytics. This website does not use cookies. If analytics are enabled, we use PostHog, hosted in the EU, in a cookieless mode: it counts page views and clicks on the store buttons without storing anything on your device. Our hosting provider processes your IP address to deliver the site and keep it secure.

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account in the app, we delete or anonymize your personal data within [30] days, unless the law requires us to keep it longer (for example, for accounting).

Depending on where you live, you can access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict some processing, and withdraw your consent at any time. You can delete your account directly in the app (Profile → Delete account). To exercise your other rights, email hello@get-shadoo.com. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

Shadoo is not intended for children under [13] (or the minimum age required in your country). We don’t knowingly collect data from children.

Our providers may process data outside your country. When data leaves the European Economic Area, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
